Weekly Wellness: How LOW body image affects your life (and what to do about it)
Too often, people equate having a low body image with being shallow. They think that people who are concerned with their appearance are self-absorbed and vain. However, the reality is that having a low body image can be incredibly damaging to both mental and physical health. People who don't love their bodies are more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. They may also have trouble respecting themselves, which can lead to self-destructive behaviors. The good news is that it is possible to learn to love and accept your body, despite its imperfections. By developing self-love and respect, you can move beyond the negative impact of low body image and start living a happier, healthier life.

The good news is that there are ways to improve your body image
Body image is a complex and often difficult thing to deal with. For so many of us, we are our own worst critics when it comes to how we look. We focus on our flaws and dwell on our imperfections, instead of appreciating our own unique beauty. If you're struggling with your body image, there are some things you can do to start improving the way you see yourself. One of the most important things is to practise self-love and self-acceptance. Accepting yourself - all of yourself - is a vital step in improving your body image. It's also important to respect your body and treat it with care. Nourish it with healthy food, move it in ways that make you feel good, and give yourself the time and attention you need to truly take care of yourself. When you start making these changes, you'll find that your body image starts to improve too.

As adults, we often forget how much our self-image is shaped by the messages we received as children. If we were told that we were fat or ugly, those messages can stay with us for a lifetime. But it is never too late to heal those old wounds and learn to love ourselves just the way we are. One way to do this is to think about how you would treat your child self if you could go back in time. Would you tell them that they were too fat or not good enough? Of course not! You would shower them with love and acceptance. So why not give yourself the same courtesy? Start by looking in the mirror and saying three positive things about yourself, each and every day. It may seem silly at first, but over time, you will start to believe the loving words you are speaking. And as your self-love grows, so will your body acceptance and respect.

Every day, we are bombarded with images of "perfect" bodies. Whether we're scrolling through Instagram or flipping through a magazine, it's impossible to avoid the constant stream of unrealistic images. And, unfortunately, these images can have a major impact on our self-image. When we compare our own bodies to the impossibly perfect standards that we see in the media, it's easy to start feeling inferior. We may start to believe that we're not thin enough, or tall enough, or pretty enough. However, it's important to remember that these standards are completely arbitrary. The truth is that there is no such thing as a "perfect" body. Every single one of us is unique, and that's something to be celebrated! When we learn to love and accept our own bodies, we can start to appreciate our own individual beauty. Instead of comparing ourselves to others, we can focus on respecting and taking care of our own bodies. After all, self-love is the best kind of love!
