Weekly Wellness - Everybody Has A Yoga Body: Why You Should Try Yoga Today
In our society, there is an overwhelming pressure to look a certain way. Women are especially bombarded with images of “perfect” bodies that are unattainable for the majority of people. As a result, many women hate their bodies and compare themselves to others. This comparison can lead to an unhealthy obsession with dieting and exercising in order to obtain the “perfect” body. However, what many women don’t realize is that the notion of a “perfect” body is completely arbitrary and that trying to obtain one is not only unhealthy but also pointless. Instead of punishing your body with restrictive diets and grueling workouts, you should try yoga. Just 15 minutes of yoga per day can have profound effects on your mind and body.

Yoga has been shown to improve mental health, increase flexibility and strength, improve posture, reduce stress, and much more. Let’s take a closer look at some of these benefits:

Mental Health Benefits Of Yoga
Yoga can help to ease anxiety and depression by teaching you how to focus on the present moment instead of dwelling on your past or worrying about the future. It does this by encouraging you to pay attention to your breath, which has a calming effect on the nervous system. In addition, yoga promotes mindfulness, which is a state of being aware of and engaged in the present moment without judgment. Mindfulness has been shown to be effective in treating conditions like anxiety and depression because it helps you to focus on the present instead of ruminating on negative thoughts.

Physical Benefits Of Yoga
Despite what society tells us, we are not meant to be sedentary creatures. Our bodies were designed to move; however, most of us spend the majority of our days sitting down at a desk or in front of the TV. This lack of movement can lead to tight muscles, poor posture, and weak bones. Yoga can help to reverse these effects by increasing flexibility and strength while also improving posture. In addition, yoga can help to reduce chronic pain by loosening up tight muscles and promoting blood flow throughout the body.

If you’re unhappy with your body, chances are you’ve tried (and failed) to change it in some way or another. Whether it’s through crash dieting or excessive exercise, most women go through their lives hating their bodies because they don’t meet society’s impossible standards. However, what if I told you that there was a way to love your body without having to change it? That way is yoga. Just 15 minutes of yoga per day can have incredible mental and physical benefits. So instead of going on yet another diet or subjected yourself to grueling workout routines, give yoga a try—you might just end up loving your body for exactly what it is."
